The sections of the ancient Ayurvedic treatise "Charaka Samhita" — "Indriya Sthana" and "Kalpa Sthana" — are presented to the readers. "Indriya Sthana" (On Sensory Perception) describes the forecasting and interpretation of human painful sensations, as well as the signs... of life and death, while "Kalpa Sthana" contains information about pharmacology. "Indriya Sthana" is considered the most ominous section of the "Charaka Samhita," as it describes the signatures of impending death. However, this preliminary symptomatology is not aimed at frightening the patient or instilling in them a sense of panic, but rather to timely warn and draw attention to the emerging symptoms of possible demise. For centuries, the "Charaka Samhita" has served as a reference manual for numerous generations of doctors and healers. The book discusses the causes of diseases, indicates their symptoms, and also defines methods of diagnosis; it describes possible ways to treat diseases.
