Evgeny Yevtushenko won enormous love from millions even during his lifetime, becoming a truly popular poet. He stood out among the brilliant constellation of sixtiers, who gathered stadiums for their evenings, and not only expressed the thoughts and feelings of... his contemporaries but also defined the attitude of subsequent generations towards poetry and the poet himself. The lyrics of E. Yevtushenko are unique. He wrote briefly, concisely, clearly, and simply, making his poems easy to memorize, while the lines themselves were filled with a special resonance, opening up new possibilities for poetry. Well-known composers wrote music for his poems. This is how the songs that are still loved and sung today came to be: "And the Snow is Falling", "This is What Happens to Me", "Little Alder Seryozha", "Do Russians Want War?", "You Are Leaving Like a Train", "Beloved, Sleep" and others. E. Yevtushenko was the voice of his era. He believed that a poet must be affected by everything happening in the world and should respond to all events with his own words. "A poet in Russia is more than a poet" — this is undeniable.
