Hannah Mole, an old maid on the verge of her forties, works as a companion in wealthy households, but never stays anywhere for long… Why? Simply because Hannah has a tendency to speak her mind openly, as well as a... peculiar attitude towards truth, stubbornness, and an overly sophisticated mind. However, the "inconvenient" aspects of her nature are partially compensated for by her irrepressible optimism and ability to draw joy and inspiration from everyday life. But when Hannah returns to her hometown of Radstow and takes a dull job as a housekeeper in the home of a pompous widowed clergyman, she encounters a situation where her unique abilities will not only be truly appreciated but will also be utterly indispensable.
