Many readers know Mice House - it is a large building with many apartments, shops, and even small factories. Karina Schapman used it as a backdrop for her first book about Mice House. For each subsequent book, she created new...
sets, and soon Mice Theater, Mice Circus, and Mice Amusement Park appeared. With the release of this new book about the port, Mice House has grown so much that it has turned into a whole city, with streets, canals, alleys, and docks.
Mice House is made of cardboard boxes, all sorts of scraps, and papier-mâché. The port and the water are made from the same materials. Ships, boats, and rafts are built from paper and cardboard, while the beautiful bridge is made from ice cream sticks.
Each book tells about different old professions. This one shows a rope workshop where children can see how ropes are woven. They will also get acquainted with the custom of racing on homemade rafts. This ancient tradition is not forgotten even today: races on homemade rafts and boats are regularly held in different Dutch cities.
In these unusual competitions, the brave little mice - Sammy and Julia, who have become favorites in previous books, wanted to participate. Will the friends be able to build a raft with their own hands and win a prize? Little readers are once again in for amazing stories that happened to Sammy and Julia.
